Makes Scents Of New York began in 1998 in Brooklyn, New York.  The concept was rather simple, to create a long lasting, potently fragrant candle. After we conducted candle research and consulted National Candle Association statistics, we discovered that most commercially available candles have less than 1% fragrance! You smell the fragrance only if it's held directly under your nose. Often these candles are merely dipped in fragrance and the interior has NO scent at all. Once we discovered that the fragrance is the most expensive ingredient of a candle, we began to understand.

The candle industry has grown dramatically in the past 10 years (10-15% per year) fueled by consumer interest in aroma therapy and increased demand for home fragrance. A variety of candle types are manufactured in the US, including tapers, straight-sided dinner candles, spirals, column, votive, tea lights, wax filled containers, and gel candles. High end, premium products are the fastest growing segment and has branched into high-fashion home stores and designer collections. Banana Republic, GAP, DKNY and others have all launched premium candle lines.

Makes Scents Of New York manufactures container wax scented candles only. We use a premium, soft blend wax that holds the maximum amount of fragrance. In fact no other wax is able to hold more fragrance! Our candles exude more aroma unlit than most candles after burning for hours. Our premium wax also adds to the burning time, boasting 3-4 times the burning time of the cheaper, low fragrance hold wax.
